They delved too greedily, and too deep...

An isolated ecosystem was discovered sealed beneath the Earth's surface in an Israeli cave system. 8 new species of animals, isolated from the planet "for a millenia."

That makes me wonder what else lurks below the surface. An intelligent peoples? Demons and beasts of legend?

NEW NEW YORK!! ... or perhaps zombies? Did you ever play "Eternal Darkness?" There was a whole city of zombies, though I had trouble imagining day-to-day life and culture in an underground zombie city.

Imagine, if you will, the zombie baker. Or the zombie shoe salesman. Or the immigrant zombie trimming the landscaping.

Also, I'm glad to see we're going to go tear that ecosystem apart with our research.

There's no doubt in my mind that if we, as a species, every encountered aliens in any serious way, the first thing we'd do is consider how much we'd make by selling an autopsy video.

I have no doubt that we'll tear through it and horribly maul some part of it. That's human science for you...

... And from what I've heard, Eternal Darkness is an incredibly creepy game. Does weird effects on/with the screen to screw with your head...
